In an exciting moment for fans of Rachel Alexandra, the first two foals out of the legendary Horse of the Year posted workouts at the Stonestreet training track on February 2nd.
Leading the way was the three-year-old filly Rachel’s Valentina, winner of the Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) and runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) in 2015. A daughter of Bernardini, Rachel’s Valentina went four furlongs in :49.60, her third workout since returning to serious training in January.
Jess’s Dream, a four-year-old son of Curlin that won his debut impressively at Saratoga last summer, went three furlongs in :39 flat. This easy breeze marked his first workout since going to the sidelines with a minor injury last fall.
No target has been announced for Jess’s Dream, but Rachel’s Valentina is being pointed toward the May 6th Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill Downs. The February 27th Davona Dale Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park could be a possible goal for Rachel’s Valentina’s 2016 debut.
