Palace Malice Returns in Alydar Stakes

Palace Malice Returns in Alydar Stakes

Good news! 2013 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Palace Malice, whose campaign thus far this season has been interrupted and delayed by injuries, is scheduled to return to the races on August 9th in the $100,000 Alydar Stakes at Saratoga.

The nine-furlong race has drawn an exceptionally deep and talented field of twelve horses, and Palace Malice has drawn post position six. Trained by Todd Pletcher, the son of Curlin has only run once this year, finishing third in the six-furlong Diablo Stakes at Belmont on May 10th after missing some training due to a foot bruise. An infected tendon sheath subsequently sent Palace Malice to the sidelines, but he has been training sharply at Saratoga for his return, most recently breezing a bullet five furlongs in :59.30 on August 2nd.

In addition to Palace Malice, the Alydar has also drawn 2012 Travers Stakes (gr. I) winner Golden Ticket and 2013 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) third-place finisher Mylute.
