It seems that the career of 2014 Eclipse champion 2yo filly Take Charge Brandi may have come to an end. After finishing last in both the Test Stakes (gr. I) and Cotillion Stakes (gr. I), it was reported September 24th Oaklawn Report that owner Willis Horton is 90% certain that Take Charge Brandi will be retired.

In March, Take Charge Brandi suffered a knee chip that required surgery and caused her to miss the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), her major target for the spring. After being sidelined for two months, Take Charge Brandi returned to training, but has been unable to regain her best form at the races.

“She came out of the [Cotillion Stakes] fine,” Horton said. “But, apparently she’s got something bothering her. I don’t know what it is, but she’s got something bothering her.”

According to the Oaklawn Report, Take Charge Brandi will be bred to either Tapit or War Front upon her retirement.
