The exciting two-year-old filly Songbird, who has won all three of her starts in impressive fashion, turned in a “perfect” workout at Santa Anita on the morning of October 12th as she prepares for a start in the $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) on October 31st at Keeneland.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Songbird–coming off impressive wins in the Del Mar Debutante (gr. I) and Chandelier Stakes (gr. I)–breezed five furlongs in 1:00.20 with jockey Mike Smith in the saddle. According to the Santa Anita Stable Notes for October 12th, Dan Ward–assistant to Jerry Hollendorfer–was pleased with Songbird’s exercise. “Mike had her out in the middle of the track; it went perfect,” Ward was quoted as saying. “Right now the plan is to have two more works here, on the 18th and the 24th, then ship early morning of the 25th.”
